Can an Inclusive Play Area Include Different Heights?

Absolutely! Changes in height add extra play value, as long as they remain accessible to everyone. In Amsterdam, IJslander worked together with the Municipality of Amsterdam to create a play area where children with and without disabilities can play together.

Thanks to the accessible poured rubber surface, children, including wheelchair users, can independently move up and down the different levels. Along the way, they encounter various play panels and can choose their own route and level of challenge. The wheelchair-accessible roundabout, wide slide, inclusive swings and accessible water play equipment complete the play area.
